MOUNTAIN “COMBO” TRAILER

- Operating Procedures -

(Equipped with High Reach Gates on Truck and Trailer Dump Boxes)

 

 

Transfer Trailer Mode:

 

Step #1.  Procedure for disconnecting from the “Combo” to dump the truck as a “Solo”

                 prior to transfer:

 

  1. Unlock the Reach Lock from the cab of the truck.
  2. Back the truck into the “Points” of the “Combo”, retracting the reach and making a connection between the truck and “Combo” Trailer.
  3. Disconnect the hydraulic, air and electrical connections, unhook safety chains and raise the Pintle Hook latch.
  4. Remove the two hydraulic lines from the hose bib and connect at the rear of the truck box.
  5. Lower the Diverter Valve Handle to the “DOWN POSITION” to divert flow back to the “Combo”
  6. Use the controls at the front of the “Combo” to lower the Independent Hydraulic Landing Legs used for stabilizing the trailer during transfer of the “Combo” Dump Box
  7. Use the Air Control Knob at the front of the “Combo” to inflate the upper airbag in the neck of the “Combo”, raising the Pintle Eye off of the Pintle Hook.
  8. Raise the Diverter Valve Handle at the rear of the Truck’s Dump Box to the “UP POSITION” to divert hydraulic flow away from the “Combo”
  9. Disconnects the two (2) Hydraulic Lines servicing the “Combo” and stow in hose bib.
  10. Pull away from the “Combo” and dump the load in the Box of the truck.

 

Step #2.  Procedure for connecting to the “Combo” for transfer

 

  1. After dumping the load from the box of the truck, Back into the “Points” of the “Combo”
  2. Raise the Trucks Tailgate to accommodate transfer of the “Combo” Dump Box.
  3. Go to the rear of the “Combo” dump box and disconnect and secure the hydraulic lines that control up/down action of the “Combo” Dump Box Tailgate.
  4. Go back to the front of the trailer and flip over the short rail section.
  5. Remove the two (2) hydraulic lines from their hose bib and connect at the rear of the truck’s dump box.
  6. Lower the Diverter Valve Handle to the “DOWN POSITION” to divert flow back to the “Combo”
  7. Push the small chrome button which releases the Lock-Out Mechanism that secures the “Combo” Dump Box to it’s sub-frame.
  8. Use Hydraulic controls at the front of the trailer to transfer the “Combo” Dump Box into the truck’s dump box.  Note: The box of the “Combo” will automatically lock into a secure position in the truck’s box for dumping.
  9. Raise the Diverter Valve Handle at the rear of the Truck’s Dump Box to the “UP POSITION” to divert hydraulic flow away from the “Combo”
  10. Disconnects the two (2) Hydraulic Lines servicing the “Combo” and stow in hose bib.
  1. Disconnect the two (2) hydraulic lines that control the “Shuttle” action of the transfer drive motors.
  2. Connect the two (2) hydraulic lines that transferred with the “Combo” Dump Box which control the up/down action of the tailgate.
  3. Pull away from the “Combo” Trailer to dump the load out of the now transferred dump box

 

Step #3.  Procedure for re-connecting to the “Combo” after dumping the load from

                 the transferred box:

 

  1. After dumping the load from the transferred box in the truck, Back into the “Points” of the “Combo”
  2. Lower the Combo” Dump Box Tailgate from the truck cab prior to transferring back onto the “Combo” chassis.
  3. Disconnect and secure the two (2) hydraulic lines that transferred which control the up/down action of the “Combo” Dump Box Tailgate.
  4. Lower the Diverter Valve Handle to the “DOWN POSITION” to divert flow back to the “Combo”
  5. Remove the two hydraulic lines from the hose bib and connect at the rear of the truck box.
  6. Connect the two (2) hydraulic lines that control the “Shuttle” action of the transfer drive motors
  7. Push the small chrome button at the rear of the truck’s dump box which releases the Lock-Out Mechanism that secures the “Combo” box in the truck’s box while dumping.
  8. Transfer the “Combo” dump Box back onto the trailer chassis.  Note: The box of the “Combo” will automatically lock into a secure position on the trailer chassis for dumping.

 

  1. Use the controls at the front of the “Combo” to raise the Independent Hydraulic Landing Legs.
  2. Raise the Diverter Valve Handle at the rear of the Truck’s Dump Box to the “UP POSITION” to divert hydraulic flow away from the “Combo.
  3. Disconnects the two (2) Hydraulic Lines servicing the “Combo” and stow in hose bib.
  4. Go to the rear of the trailer and re-connect the hydraulic lines for the “Combo” Tailgate.
  5. Connect the hydraulic, air and electrical connections, unhook safety chains and raise the Pintle Hook latch.
  6. Use the Air Control Knob at the front of the “Combo” to deflate the upper airbag in the neck of the “Combo”, lowering the Pintle Eye onto the Pintle Hook.
  7. Lock the Pintle Latch.
  8. Return to truck cab and lower truck’s tailgate
  9. Extend and lock the reach of the “Combo” Trailer for transport over the road

 

 

Pup Trailer Mode

 

Steps:

 

  1. Back into the Pintle Hitch
  2. Connects Hydraulic Plumbing, Air Lines and Electrical Connections
  3. Use Control of the Upper Air Bag to raise/lower the Pintle eye on/off the Pintle Hook
  4. Secure Pintle in “Lock” position
  5. Use Hydraulic controls at front of trailer to raise/lower the Hydraulic Landing Legs on the “Combo” for transport/parking
  6. If  “Combo” was parked in Transfer Mode, the driver would extend the reach and lock it into transport position from the cab of the truck
